Bordeaux Legends by Jane Anson has been awarded the special jury mention in the History and Literature category of the prestigious International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) Awards.
The book, which follows the history and development of the Bordeaux 1855 First Growth wines, including the promotion of Mouton Rothschild in 1973, has a forward by Academy Award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola.
It was published in October 2012 in French under the title Elixirs, and in English in April 2013 as Bordeaux Legends.
The annual OIV awards reward the best works published over the previous two years related to wine and vineyards. This year there were 30 competing works from 13 countries.
The jury met in early June in Bucharest, and gave 10 Awards and 3 Special Mentions in 7 categories. Wine Grapes, by Jancis Robinson, Julia Harding and José Vouillamoz won the Jury Award in the Viticulture category.
Bordeaux Legends also won an award for Best Wine Photography in the Gourmand Book Awards in February 2013, and was recently shortlisted for a Louis Roederer award in 2013.
