Majestic is offering next-day delivery on its entire range of wines in time for the peak Christmas season, as part of plans to improve its fortunes.
Majestic Wine said that it was making its entire range of 1,250 wines available for order online for next day delivery in the UK.
The service will be fully up and running by 2 November 2016, it said.
The move is part of the retailer’s drive to make its wines more easily available as it attempts to fend off competition from supermarkets and other online rivals.
‘This is a big step in our transformation plan and will help support Christmas trading,’ said John Colley, MD of Majestic Retail.
Majestic said next day delivery on its whole range was possible because it has created a National Fulfilment Centre to handle online orders.
It said its next day delivery costs were:
- £4.95 for orders between £30 and £120
- £6.95 for under £30
- Above £120 is free
Majestic has also tip-toed into the fledgling on-demand retail sector. It has been running a trial with food delivery service Deliveroo since July 2016.
