Champans
Manufacturer:
Michael Schuster
Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Slightly reduced, faintly vegetal, faintly peppery nose. Palate mirrors the nose with a flavour that is lean and barely ripe, and with very firm tannin in addition! A tough, lean, chewy prospect, with little Volnay charm at all – far too tough for its own good!

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Good bright red with youthful rim. Well-concentrated rich black fruits on the nose, good richness on the palate, but not quite the definition expected from Champans. Open and even a bit exotic, but just falls a little short.

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Tinned asparagus nose mixed with nettles. Mean and sour on the palate, but tannins are quite fine. A bit short; not really 1er cru standard.
