Lisa McGovern, the regional director of Wine Australia for the UK, Ireland and Europe, has resigned.
In a statement issued this morning the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation said it had ‘implemented internal changes to support the UK office and the market in Lisa’s absence to ensure transition can occur with minimal impact on the team, strategy, stakeholder interests and market activity.’
It added that John McDonnell, regional manager for Ireland, will be looking after the UK office while a replacement is sought.
Reporting the general manager Paul Henry in Adelaide, McGovern took over the demanding post in April 2009 after a long search.
She was responsible for difficult task of briefing journalists on the complexities of the Directions 2025 initiative.
The AWBC said, ‘Lisa worked tirelessly to promote and support the Australian wine industry in the UK and Europe and the AWBC wishes her all the best in the future.’
