History:

An offshoot of a large estate created by négociant-farmer Pierre de Mesures de

Rauzan in the mid 1600s. The Rauzan estate incorporated several fine vineyards

particularly highly reputed in England (Rauzan himself travelled there to sell his

product to the British). Each new generation saw Rauzan progressively fragmented and what was left was ultimately shared between two sons-in-law, the smaller of the two portions going to Seigneur de Gassies, the founder of Rausan-Gassies. Afterwards came a string of owners – a M Rhoné-Péraire is credited with much improvement of the vineyard – until 1946 when Bercy wine merchant Paul Quié purchased the property. In 2001 Paul’s son Jean-Michel handed on control to his children Jean-Philippe and Anne-Françoise Quié.
