Ucedo
Manufacturer:
Mike Ritchie
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Probably of academic interest only now. Tertiary, bottle-derived characteristics dominate. Savoury not fruity. Powerful, rich and raisiny fruit style. Drink up.
Pedro Ballesteros
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Minty and balsamic aromas in the attack. Savia and dried apricots, blackberry fruit. Full body, still too young, very tannic, much concentrated, with a lovely finish, open and complex. Great terroir wine, needs time to develop. Long finish.
Sarah Jane Evans
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Boldly aromatic, with notes of stewed cinnamon and vanilla plums. Overall sweet impression, with prickle of bramble acidity, and dry grainy finish. Once likeable but palate is tired now.
