Losada
Manufacturer:
Mike Ritchie
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Muted ripe fruit character and a savoury meatiness is apparent. The oak is well integrated, but a hot alcoholic finish spoils the effect, unbalancing the overall impression.
Pedro Ballesteros
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Restrained, with evident oaky notes and clean blackberry fruit aromas. Very commercial style, quite supported by the smart use of oak and round tannins, perhaps a bit shy to claim its origin. Good finish, persistent.
Sarah Jane Evans
Tasting: Bierzo Mencia
Leafy herbal aspect to aromatics, with dark fruit underneath. Palate is dark, profound and rich, with a welcome dart of freshness through the core. A typically dry and grainy grip to the tannin gives weight and structure. A slumbering giant of a wine.
