Sales of Jean-Paul Lafragette’s Bordeaux chateaux are now almost complete.
The former director of L&L is under investigation for misappropriation of company funds.
The sales of two of his three properties – Château de Rouillac in Pessac Leognan and Château de l’Hospital in Graves – are both due to be finalised in the next few days.
The family’s third château, the 42ha Loudenne in the Medoc, will not be sold.
Lafragette has also sold 49% of his shareholding in his company L&L. The civil case against Lafragette taken by the Kobrand company will now be dropped.
‘The sale, yesterday, July 31st, of his shares in L&L to Kobrand puts an amicable end to all litigation between L&L and Lafragette,’ said family lawyer Olivier Guidoux.
Lafragette could still be prosecuted independently by the French government.
Guidoux would not comment on the value of the sale of the L&L shares, nor on the value of the chateaux sales or who the new owners are.
Sources in Bordeaux estimate that the 17ha Chateau de Rouillac fetched around €7.5m. The buyers are said to be ‘two young cereal farmers’.
The sale value of Chateau l’Hospital, 12ha, was estimated at about €2.5m.
