Wine experts including Oz Clarke and Jancis Robinson MW have chosen a selection of English wines to be shown at Vinopolis in the run up to English wine week.
Visitors will be asked to rate the wines and then hear the opinions of the panel, which also includes Robert Joseph, Andrew Jefford and Stephen Skelton MW.
The wines available are, in the sparkling category, Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2005, Hush Heath Balfour Brut 2004 and Bookers Barts Bubbly 2004. The still wines are Camel Valley Bacchus, Sharpham Estate Selection, and Three Choirs Siegerrebe, all from 2006.
The tour also includes an English wine section, with information about growers, vineyard locations, provenance and how to enjoy English wines.
A recent Decanter tasting showed that English sparkling wines have made encouraging progress in recent years, while Waitrose is planting vines in Hampshire to produce its own English fizz for sale in 2014.
The English wine ‘preview’ runs from 8–19 May. English Wine Week runs from 24 May to 1 June.
