Three Decanter writers were honoured last night at the prestigious Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards, 2007.
Andrew Jefford, John Stimpfig and James Halliday all scooped international gongs during the ceremony at the Century Club in London.
Jefford, a long-standing Decanter columnist, won International Wine Writer of the Year for the second year running for articles in Decanter magazine and Waitrose Food Illustrated.
Decanter regular John Stimpfig, who won International Wine Writer of the Year at the awards’ inaugural ceremony in 2005, was last night named International Champagne Writer of the Year for work in the Financial Times’ How To Spend It.
James Halliday, an occasional Decanter contributor, picked up the International Book of the Year award for the Wine Atlas of Australia.
Other awards were won by Hamish Marrett-Crosby for broadcasts on BBC Radio Jersey, and Philip van Zyl for the John Platter South African Wine Guide.
