Mick Fleetwood – founder and drummer of rock band Fleetwood Mac - has gone on a tour of discount stores to promote his own wine brand.
The former rocker – and mastermind behind Rumours, one of the highest-selling albums of all time – will be appearing at Costco outlet stores along the west coast of America from March to July this year.
He also says he will be signing autographs and posing for photos with fans next to bottles of his Riesling, Barbera, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fleetwood has been making his Private Cellar wines since 2001. Unlike other celebrities who have lent their names to wines, he says he takes pride in a hands-on approach, personally selecting the wineries for his signature vintages and working with professional winemakers to create the finest blends.
The range of 10 wines includes Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, a Cabernet Franc and Merlot blend, a Syrah and other single varietals from vineyards in Santa Barbara County on California’s Central Coast.
‘Mixing my wines is a lot like creating music for me,’ he says. ‘Blending tastes is a lot like mixing sound – it has to be just right.’
Fleetwood’s wines retail in Costco stores for around US$20 (£10).
