Decanter contributing editor Stephen Brook has been shortlisted for the 2006 André Simon Food and Drink book awards.
His book Bordeaux – Medoc and Graves (Mitchell Beazley, 2006) is among the four contenders in the drinks category.
Brook, who has twice won the award, is up against Decanter contributors Jancis Robinson MW for her Oxford Companion to Wine, Peter Richards for Wines of Chile and Oz Clarke’s Bordeaux.
Past winners in the wine category include Nicholas Faith (twice), Hugh Johnson (three times), Michael Broadbent and Clive Coates MW.
Launched in 1978 by the André Simon Memorial Fund, the award commemorates the favourite subjects of André Louis Simon, a pillar of the UK wine trade in the 20th century. Simon was a leading UK-based Champagne importer, founder of the Wine & Food Society (now the International Wine & Food Society), prolific author and bon vivant.
Winners will be announced in Spring 2007.
