Constellation announced today the appointment of Jon Moramarco as CEO of Constellation Europe.
Moramarco, a 12th generation winemaker who sits on the board of a clutch of high-profile organisations such as the Wine Institute, Wine Market Council and Winegrowers of Napa County, steps into the position previously held by Christopher Carson, who retired last year.
A statement from Constellation president Rob Sands described the new appointee as bringing ‘a wealth of experience and knowledge to Constellation Europe.’
Moramarco leaves his position as head of Icon Estates, which is being brought under the umbrella of Constellation Wines US while retaining responsibility for sales, marketing and production.
Icon Estates, formerly Franciscan Estates, includes Franciscan Oakville Estate, Mount Veeder Winery, Robert Mondavi Winery, Simi Winery, Estancia Estates and Ravenswood wineries in California; Columbia Winery in Washington State; Ruffino Estates of Italy; Drylands in Marlborough, New Zealand; Tintara in McLaren Vale, Australia; and Veramonte in Chile’s Casablanca Valley.
Constellation Brands is the world’s biggest wine company. Its portfolio includes Robert Mondavi brands (including Opus One, which is owned jointly with Baron Philippe de Rothschild in a 50/50 agreement), Hardys, Nobilo and a variety of drinks from Blackthorn cider to Corona and Tsingtao beer.
