London wine merchants Berry Bros & Rudd are opening four new tax-free outlets at London’s Heathrow airport this summer.
The first two stores will open this month in Terminals 3 and 4, replacing the retailer’s two existing outlets, while two new shops will open in Terminals 1 and 2 in the summer.
The four 250 sq ft stores will offer a wine collection service, allowing customers travelling within the European Union to pre-order from over 4,000 wines, spirits and champagnes at tax-free prices. Orders can be taken by phone or online and can be collected on passengers’ return journey.
Berry’s retail director Robin McMillan said the new wine collection service should be an improvement on the previous service they offered.
‘This focussed, more convenient model will allow customers travelling internationally from Heathrow to take advantage of the wines in store and the pre-order service.’
The range on offer includes Bollinger Special Cuvee at £24.45 and Gruaud-Larose 1990 at £85, to Petrus 1982 at £1,690 and Romanee 1996 at £2,255.
