Markus Molitor, M Sauvignon Blanc, Mosel, Germany 2021

Lidl is rather good at sourcing high-quality, well-priced Sauvignon Blancs from Europe beyond the Loire, and this example from respected producer Markus Molitor demonstrates that there's more to Germany's Mosel region than Riesling. Bottled under screwcap to maximise freshness, this offers a great deal of interest, with a crunchy green pepper herbiness, plus a weight of green fruit, blackcurrant leaf and elderflower. It's great value at just under a tenner, tighter and fresher than the Pouilly-Fumé (also part of the Summer Wine Tour) at £3 more... Enjoy it with a goat's cheese salad or some simply cooked asparagus.
