Smell is one of the most primitive senses of man, which has enabled him to discern what sort of things to eat and what to avoid. Through evolution, pleasing aromas were discovered and classified. We are able to smell more than 100,000 scents, but not identify them.
In late November a new project of 'oceanic wines' in Argentina was presented. Hold on… Oceanic? Yes: wines grown next to the sea and produced by a winery located as far away from water as Mendoza is from the Atlantic Ocean. And if the data itself is curious, even more so is that this is a new Atlantic winery and it is redefining the map of Argentine terroirs.
It's still a bit early to say whether Argentina will be a new paradise of Tannat, this rustic and expressive variety, of French origin, which has never been able to awaken expressions of admiration and delirium like Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Malbec, have done.
Founded in 2002 by Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes Sr., Kaiken aim is to craft premium wines which reflect the unique terroirs of top denominations in Argentina.
