Tasting: Chianti Classico Riserva

Very peppery-fruit nose. Glossy entry on the palate, hard tannins, slightly stewed fruit, salty finish.

Super sweet nose, aromas of highland whisky, nuts and maple. Palate is similarly rich, particularly on the finish, but there are also high levels of tannin and acid so doesn’t feel overworked. Juicy red fruit flavours of strawberry and blackberry.

Lovely nose – fights just shy of being overblown. Mineral core with black fruit, spice, and undergrowth. Oak is restrained, or at least relatively so. Palate is just a little less convincing with some candied fruit and flabbiness.
