Tasting: Chianti Classico Riserva

Dumb nose, with faint saline character. Very concentrated tannins, dense and chewy, good underlying fruit, but a bit over-extracted. Low acid leaves a little short.

Warm and sweet, smells like chocolate hazelnuts. Restrained, needs time but full body, fruit, tannin and acid all so tightly wound that hard to understand. But high quality. Time…True Riserva?

Disjointed and dusty with an old-school modelling clay note and a whiff of peat. Not a recognisable style of Chianti Classico.
