Greenhill Winery’s Blanc de Blancs and a complimentary tasting at the Virginia winery is included in this year's $200k Oscars ‘Everyone Wins’ gift bag.
The ‘Everyone Wins’ bag is handed out to nominees of the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director awards. This year’s recipients will include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Sylvester Stallone.
The gift bag, known as the ‘Swag Bag’, is full of lavish presents with the intention of cheering up those who did not win an Oscar. Although, winners still receive a bag, too.
The Blanc de Blancs 2013 is one of Greenhill’s first vintages after David Greenhill founded the estate, in the Middleburg AVA in Northern Virginia, in May 2013.
Its inclusion in the gift set is a vote of confidence for Virginia wine, which has received increased attention the past couple of years.
The Greenhill, Blanc de Blancs 2013 sparkling wine is made using the traditional method by winemaker Sébastien Marquet, who trained in oenology and viticulture in his native Burgundy.
To accompany the sparkling wine in the Oscars gift bag, Greenhill Winery is offering a complimentary tour and tasting to the Hollywood stars of their 128-acre estate. The Middleburg AVA, where the estate is located, is considered to have the best terroir in Northern Virginia for growing grapes.
Owner David Greenhill told Decanter.com, ‘I am honoured by the selection of our wines. We believe it is a true testament to the quality of Virginia wine and the wines being produced in Loudoun County Virginia.’
Greenhill’s Blanc de Blancs 2013, priced at $39, is featured alongside gifts such as a $55,000 five -star trip to Israel, a year of Audi A4 rentals worth $45,000 and some $275 Swiss made toilet paper. Slightly less extravagent gifts include a $6 ChapStick lip balm, a Dandi Patch deodorant worth $21 and a bottle of $99 maple syrup.
