Borgo Regio Franciacorta NV
A well-priced fizz. I’m very pleased to see a Franciacorta Lidl shelves, as hopefully it’s going to drive people away from some of the more un-exciting Prosecco. Franciacorta offers some great sparkling but is often a bit pricey.
On first impression, the bubble is not refined but it is persistent. The palate is dry with some herbal notes such as thyme combined citrus and grapefruit hint. The palate is crisp and fresh with some green apple characters and a nice texture on the mouth. It’s quite round and creamy with some biscuity notes from the lees ageing. Very pleasing and enjoyable and it will not be out of place in the line-up of sparkling wines this Christmas.
