Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Freshly fragrant nose; elegantly balanced, but also firmly tannic wine; long and fine to taste, of clear 1er Cru quality with both complexity and length. Youthful and long term. Very fine.

Good medium red, young rim. Lifted, briary red fruits nose, nice freshness and clarity of aromas and flavours. Still a little green and will perhaps not fill out as much as Santenots should, but a fine, elegant wine.

Perfumed nose, quite lifted, with strawberry and cassis notes, but a little blurred. Lively cassis notes on the palate, medium, fine tannins, good juicy acidy and a medium-long finish.
