Alejandro Iglesias was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, into a family for whom food and wine has always been important. In 2004, he gave up his career as a financial consultant to study at the Escuela Argentina de Sommeliers, or Sommelier School of Argentina in English.
Since then, he has worked as a wine writer for various media outlets in Argentina and overseas, including Decanter.

As a wine educator, he teaches classes in Argentina, Uruguay, Panama and Costa Rica.
He was appointed Executive Sommelier for Club Bonvivir, the largest wine club in Argentina in 2010, and later was Head Sommlier there.
In 2013, he co-founded vinomanos.com, the first Argentine wine app, with whom he publishes the Informe Malbec, the most comprehensive annual report on Argentine Malbec in the world.
Alejandro Iglesias joined the DWWA tasting panel in 2018.
