Tasting: Saint Joseph 2010

Muted plum and cherry nose, though quite floral. Bright attack, fresh and perky, with an attractive sinewy character that makes up for the lack of flesh. There’s an attractive piquancy and a hint of red fruits on the finish. Not the ripest of wines, but well-made and balanced. Quite long.

Tasting: Saint Joseph 2010

Reticence on the nose is no disgrace at such an age; the palate, however, seems similarly unformed and slightly lacking concentration and sense of purpose or direction. Clean and balanced, but almost refined out of existence.

John Livingstone-Learmonth

Tasting: Saint Joseph 2010

Smoky, vanilla-influenced nose, charming blackberry fruit within, pretty good local appeal. The palate has a lactic note in its blackberry, a slightly high touch. Suited to foods, not solo drinking. The fruit is trim, not extravagant, and it finishes on a neat ensemble. Could extend further from mid-2013
