Casarena, Single Vineyard, Lauren’s Vineyard, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo 2012

Mendoza may make up 75% of Argentina's Malbec output, but a new generation of producers are ensuring that its style is anything but predictable. Patricio Tapia picks 22 Malbecs to try...

As usual with Casarena, this is a refined, elegant interpretation of Agrelo’s Malbec.
It has that sweet ripeness so classical of the place, but in this case moderated by a crunchy acidity and electric tannins. It feels so juicy and tender that is hard not to pour a second glass. A beautiful, precise vision of Malbec.
