History:
The estate of Rabaud, of which Château Rabaud-Promis was once part, was given as a dowry when Marie Peyronne de Rabaud married Arnaud de Cazeau in 1660. The Rabaud estate remained in the family until 1819 when it was sold to the mayor of Bommes, a Monsieur Deymes. A century later the estate was divided in two, with one half being sold to Adrien Promis, a member of a prominent Bordeaux winegrowing family and the originator of the estate’s full name. Many ramifications later, Rabaud-Promis passed to the Lanneluc family and by marriage to Philippe Dejean, in 1972. The Dejeans have since turned a stagnant performer into the 1er cru it is.
