The history of Château Suduiraut goes back to 1580 when Nicole d’Allard owned the land on which this estate is built. It changed hands many times, though throughout the 1800s and early 1900s Suduiraut produced wines of very high quality and received several top awards. Yet the good times didn’t last and when Leopold-Francois Fonquernie took over in 1940 quality levels had slipped. Fonquernie and his family wrought great improvements during their tenure, and the upturn has continued under new owners AXA Millésimes (since 1992).
