History:

Château La Tour Carnet goes back 800 years, though the current name was given in the 16th century, when Sieur de Carnet, with his master and previous owner, Jean de Foix, fought the move from English to French domination. Following a clutch of different owners the property remained with the Thibault de Carmaing family for 200 years, followed by Charles de Leutken. After two generations Leutken’s grandson inherited in 1861, but was eventually faced with gradual decline which lasted many decades. In 1962, the Lipschitzs, followed by their daughter, by then Marie-Claire Pelegrin, launched the regeneration of the estate – and in 1999 the challenge was taken up and continued by present owner Bernard Magrez. In addition, he has renovated the old medieval château and its impressive round tower.
