Ten years after the release of Luce, Italian producer Frescobldi has launched a new Brunello wine under the Luce label.
The wine, dubbed Luce Brunello di Montalcino, was launched at Frescobaldi’s Michaelangelo-designed Villa I Collazzi last week.
The wine becomes the third addition to the Luce stable that includes the first Montalcino-based supertuscan, Luce della Vite, and its second wine Lucente.
‘Ten years ago, we presented Luce for the first time at the Villa I Collazzi and we thought it would be wonderful to celebrate that milestone with a new one by introducing the Luce Brunello di Montalcino at the same venue,’ said Leonardo Frescobaldi, head of Luce della Vite.
Guests at the evening included members of the international press as well as celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, fashion and trade.
Luce was the offspring of the union between the Frescobaldi and Mondavi families which started the brand in 1995. Ten years later, Frescobaldi bought out Mondavi’s half of the estate with Mondavi offshoot Folio retaining responsibility for importing and marketing the wine in the US.
The debut release of Luce Brunello di Montalcino is from the 2003 vintage of which 10,000 bottles were produced. It will be released in 2008.
