Five Oddbins stores to become Nicolas

Five Oddbins wine shops, in exclusive areas of London, are being converted to Nicolas stores – the French wine retail arm of owners Castel.

The five shops are located in Fleet Street, Haverstock Hill, Knightsbridge, Westbourne Grove and Pembridge Road.

Although Oddbins would not comment on the reasons for the transfer, a spokesperson for the company said the move was part of an ongoing restructuring of the business.

‘Castel owns both the Oddbins and Nicolas and a number of Nicolas stores were transferred to Oddbins when Castel first acquired the business,’ said Oddbins’ Ayo Akintola. ‘Both companies have swapped branches. It is against this background that five stores in London are due to be transferred to Nicolas.’

Akintola said the staff remaining in the Oddbins branches would be transferred to Nicolas.
