Dona Paula, an Argentine winery focused on terroir

Established in 1997, Doña Paula is made up of a team of innovative professionals who are passionate detail-lovers when it comes to taking care of the vineyards.

The vignerons of Doña Paula work with absolute respect for grape varieties and their characteristics; noting differences in each region and guided by the idea that an excellent wine is nothing but the most faithful expression of the vineyard from its origin.

Doña Paula is considered to be an estate winery as 100% of the grapes used to produce its wines come from its own vineyards. Taking care of every detail in those vineyards ensures that the winery will obtain consistent quality and a unique style that reflects the purest expression of the grapes.

The vineyard’s innovative spirit is reflected in its constant and detailed search for different terroirs to elaborate high quality wines. The winery owns estates in the best winegrowing regions of Argentina, with varied soil, altitude and climate conditions.

Continuous innovation is an ongoing process in the vineyard. Doña Paula is one of the only estates in Argentina that plants bush vines in the rocky soil of Alluvia estate to treat each plant as an individual and obtain a naturally low yield.

Martín Kaiser, Doña Paula’s Head Viticulturist and Head R&D, has led an exhaustive study on the influence of soil and climate on Malbec. Grapes from different regions of Argentina have been vinified with the purpose of determining how temperature and soil variations may affect Malbec aromas and flavours.
