DWWA judge profile: Claire Thevenot MS

Claire Thevenot MS is a judge at the at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA)

Claire Thevenot profile:

Born in France but now very much a Londoner, Claire Thevenot MS currently works for Wine Source Group as their UK on-trade sales Director. Managing a small team of ex-sommeliers and representation of Iconic producers from either established regions or eying the new stars in the ever challenging wine world. She began her career by studying catering and hospitality management, and then taking a sommelier course in Tain l’Hermitage. Following her studies, Thevenot worked at a number of three star Michelin restaurants in France, Germany and Switzerland, including Bernard Loiseau, Michel Guerard and Im Schiffchen Jean Claude Bourgueil in Dusseldorf.

In 2002, she moved to Brighton to work for the Hotel du Vin Group, quickly being promoted to head sommelier at the Hotel du Vin Winchester. Thevenot became the first French female Master Sommelier in 2006, and was named UK Sommelier of the Year. She then joined Enotria in 2008 to develop their French boutique wineries portfolio and London on -trade sales. Her passion is for German Riesling, although she is also true to her French roots and especially appreciates the wines of Burgundy and the Rhône.

Thevenot was first a DWWA judge in 2014.
