WHAT MAKES THE DWWA UNIQUE?
Expert palates judging on a regional level
The success of the DWWA rests on its unique judging process and world-class judging panels. We judge on a regional basis to promote a sense of origin and we only take on judges when they have an intimate knowledge of a specific region.
How we judge your wine
Wines are tasted blind within their region of origin and price bracket to ensure that an expression of terroir is taken into account, and wines are compared like for like. Each wine is individually assessed and discussed by a dedicated panel before a verdict is recorded. Wines can be awarded Commended, Bronze, Silver, Gold medals or Regional Trophy. All Silver medals are tasted twice, and all Gold, Regional Trophy and International Trophy winning wines are tasted up to four times.
