Decanter's first Unsigned Talent Trade tasting was held at the OXO2 in London on 20 September.
Last Thursday (20 September) saw the first Decanter Unsigned Talent Trade tasting take place at the OXO2 on the Southbank in London.
Over 250 members of the wine trade, including merchants, sommeliers, wine buyers and importers gathered to taste 192 wines from wine regions around the world.
The wines available came from 20 different countries and all received a medal at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).
The aim of the tasting was to help wines find UK representation by putting them in front of the UK’s most important wine importers and retailers.

The wines available ranged from Best in Show – the top accolade at the 2018 Decanter World Wine Awards to Bronze medalists. Of the 192 wines showcased, 97 were Bronze, 65 Silver, 16 Gold, 9 Platinum and 5 Best in Show.
The trade were also invited to try their hand at “being a DWWA judge”.
Attendees were given a crib sheet that included the country, region and sub-region of the wine as well as the vintage and grape varieties and asked to award them a score following the same system used at the DWWA (100-points system)
The winner of the competition will be announced later this week and will win two tickets to Decanter’s flagship event, the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter in November.
