Le Vignoble showcases 32 Decanter World Wine Award winning wines for 2 weeks this October.
Address: New Cooperage, Royal William Yard, Plymouth
“At Le Vignoble we love helping people to find great wines that they haven’t had the opportunity to try before or they haven’t thought about trying before. It’s all about exploring different flavours, textures, aromas. Being part of the Global Tastings is perfect for us because it allows our customers to taste even more award winning wines and make their own opinions. We are very proud to be part of such a prestigious event.”
Yannick Loué, Owner, Le Vignoble
To celebrate this year’s Global Tastings, we caught up with Le Vignoble’s manager Yannick Loue, to find out a little bit more about this premier wine bar, set in the South West of England.
Tell us a little bit about your wine venue and the customers it attracts – where are you based? Do you specialise in a particular type of wine?
Yannick: Le Vignoble is a Wine Lounge, Retail and Education. it is based in the historic part of Plymouth at The Royal William Yard, we have been trading for 14 months now. Our Lounge works with Enomatic Machines and we are very proud to have 1 of the 3 Enoround in UK. We are showcasing 36 wines that we change on a regular basis and the we hold 200 + wines by the bottle from all over the world passing from Japan, to Greece, to Patagonia and so on. We run WSET and private tasting classes on a regular basis for the enjoyment of our customers. We are attracting beginners and connoisseurs, we have seen a very strong trade from young professionals who have a desire to learn more about wine and enjoy finding the difference between good wine and cheap wine. Our Specialty is really to bring the wine world to the door of our customers using the Enomatic wine system, so they can experiment with wine to find something they really love.
Why did you want to be a part of the Global Tastings this year, and what do you hope to achieve by running this two-week tasting in your venue?
Y: Being part of the tasting is very important to us as it puts us in a very good position being linked with a well established magazine as the decanter but also show casing some award winning wines that we haven’t stocked for our customers to sample. It will be very interesting to see the reaction from our guests with the selection that we have lined up, as I have chosen some very unusual wines.
Will you be running any promotions or special events as part of the Decanter Global Tastings for your customers this October?
Y: Yes we are running a launch on Wednesday the 2nd to explain all the wines and we will also show case a wine per day as we will run the event until the end of October.
Can you describe the wine scene in your city? Have you seen it change in recent years, or would you say it’s changing?
Y: I have seen lots of young professionals who are very interested to learn more about wine but are initially scared to ask questions as it seem to be a taboo subject. Our concept makes things much easier for them. Also we have some people that are now buying less wine but better quality because they find they appreciate it more.
Finally, do you have any DWWA-winning wine recommendations you would like to share with your customers, and if so, why you have chosen these wines?
Y: Most of the wine I have chosen are very surprising wines as I would like people to try things to get out of their comfort zone. My top wines would be dry Furmint, Gaia wine from Greece and Japanese Koshu.
