Rich wines from Hermitage and Côte Rotie, and big, powerful reds from Châteauneuf where this was best vintage since 1969
Weather Conditions
The north suffered from a poor spring and late flowering. Poor weather continued through the summer, but in mid-August the skies cleared and grapes were able to ripen in perfect conditions. The harvest, although late, was problem-free. The crop was of normal size, and the wines were mostly of very high quality. Springtime conditions were better in the south, and the summer and autumn echoed those in the north.
