Washington 1993: Drink now
Elegant and flavoursome wines
Weather Conditions
Budbreak occurred in early April which is normal. A relatively cool early season followed a larger than normal set, and the vines went into the late summer trying to ripen a huge crop. As the days went by growers had to perform some cluster thinning to adjust the crop and leaf stripping, allowing badly need sun to reach the fruit, was also commonly done. Placing the vineyards on a moderate irrigation program to speed up the ripening process was somewhat successful. However, in some vineyards the vine shut down and a lot of unripe fruit was hanging on the vine. The harvest of Cabernet was in full swing the first week of October.
