Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs: 2012 release and vertical tasting

The rarest of Perrier-Jouët's cuvées, Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs comes from just two vineyards in the Côte des Blancs. Upon the release of the 2012 vintage, Benjamin Lewin attends a vertical tasting of all previous vintages and reports.

To celebrate the release of the Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2012 ⎯ only the seventh vintage since the inaugural release of the 1993 ⎯ Perrier-Jouët held a vertical tasting of all vintages to date.

Hosted by Séverine Frerson (cellar master since 2020) and sommelier Alexandre Freguin (UK best sommelier 2018), this was an unusual event. As most Champagne is non-vintage, vintage Champagnes are rarely produced frequently enough to make vertical tastings possible.
