Jean-Paul Thévenet, Tradition Le Clachet, Morgon 2015
Jean-Paul Thévenet needs little introduction in Beaujolais; he is one of the gang of four (the others being Guy Breton, Jean Foillard & Marcel Lapierre) to start the natural wine movement in the region. From old vines in Morgon, thsi exhibits a beautifully perfumed nose with notes of red cherry and a hint of spice. Aged for several months in used oak barrels from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, it is showing some oak nuance with a rustic edge which adds complexity and character.
