Tasting: Languedoc

Deep colour, quite rich spice – a hint of oak and chocolate. Quite ripe dense sweet fruit. A firm streak of tannin, ripe and solid.

Saturated deep black-red. Very oaky aromas. Good oak, but I’d always rather smell the Languedoc hills … On the palate, the oak is still palpable but there is now plenty of deep, textured fruit to support that oak. Some cologne spice, too. Good wine; very nearly fine wine.

Smart oak aromas dominate. Very youthful – the oak is pretty aggressive now – and is there sufficient black fruit to integrate well in a year or so?
