Chateau Desmirail
Manufacturer:
Stephen Brook
Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Lush brooding plum and blackberry nose, opulent and oaky. Rich and very tannic, rather severe and a bit extracted, but has spice and vigour. This seems to be closing up a bit and is distinctly chewy and firm, and thus the fruit is somewhat subdued. I find this very hard to judge, as it’s not evident that it has sufficient fruit to balance the structure. Quite long.

Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Typical Margaux bouquet with floral notes but also hints of greenness. Slightly high acidity on the palate and a certain lack of ripeness on the palate. Finishes a bit short and tart.

Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Fine freshness of blackcurrant fruit with fragrance and vineyard expression behind it. Classy expression of naturally ripe fruit and vineyard elegance, rather understated and restrained, but all in finesse and Margaux’s expressive elegance.
