Tasting: Meursault 1er Cru 2010

Rich spicy nose, ripe citrus. Sleek attack, almost creamy, with reasonable concentration of fruit and a hint of sweetness that is fortunately balanced by firm acidity that gives a tangy finish. But it’s a touch phenolic and lacks some drive and persistence.

The palate is intense with smoky and yellow spice flavours. The wood tannins are a little drying and maybe bring some bitterness. There is good acid and minerals but it’s not all harmonius right now.

Quite phenolic/oily nose, really quite rich and unexpectedly sweet on the palate, good broad flavours and some back-up acidity, but a bit broad and assertive for Perrieres.
