Chateau Lafite Rothschild

Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Muted cassis nose, seems fully ripe. Rich, supple, juicy, plenty of upfront fruit and backed by firm ripe tannins. It’s solid rather than nuanced, with a slight chalkiness. Not much excitement or complexity here. Quite good length.

Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Full-bodied, typical Pauillac bouquet with cassis and black fruit, lots of power. On the palate quite pronounced but ripe tannin, sweet juicy fruit, but a lack of class and finesse. Finish a bit clumsy and extracted. Needs more time and may harmonise better.

Tasting: Medoc crus classes 2009
Bright and vibrant cassis nose, fine concentration and controlled ripeness. Still some briary tannins which will blend in with the ripeness of fruit to show a fine, elegantly vigourous wine, over the medium term.
