Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2014
In bottle tasting note, October 2016
The nose is rich, oaky, and luxurious, with apple-compote and lanolin aromas, and a light smoky character. It’s rich, creamy, and full-bodied, suave and opulent; there’s immense concentration but it’s also spicy and complex with a fine acidic bite on the finish. The oak is well integrated and there is a good length.
Taster: Stephen Brook
Alc 13.5%
En primeur tasting note
Highly successful across both colours in 2014, this has so much character and grip that there is still plenty to love. Firm varietal definition, but with a touch lower acidity than some whites in this vintage as picked late to balance acidity levels. Great persistency, lots of pleasure ahead.
