Tasting: Saint Joseph 2010
Closed nose. Rich, broad, quite tannic, certainly concentrated but a touch extracted and chewy. There’s an overall lack of freshness and purity, and I don’t see this ageing gracefully. Moderate length and a rather dour, chunky finish.

Savoury and sweet on the nose, with jambon cru, tapenade and cassis all vying for attention. The palate shares these features and has impressive length and poised tannins.

Tasting: Saint Joseph 2010
Well-grounded bouquet led by softly sweet blackberry fruit, coffee and floral notes also, the overall effect nice and dark. The fruit is clear along the palate, its acidity enough to keep it moving well. Chunky, chewy wine, bit clumsy. Builds into a tasty finale, seasoned with oak and some meat stock. The tannins are still vigorous, all is set for fusion. Traditional style.
