Clos des Chenes
Manufacturer:
Michael Schuster
Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Closed nose, very slightly reduced; medium-full, but with an overall unripe edginess to it, firm tannins and a lack of both Volnay charm and finesse, as well as a lack of 1er Cru scope. Minerality yes but too much tannin for the available fruit, and finishing fairly short too. Clos des Chenes quality by no means clear!

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Good colour, young rim. Ripe red fruits on the nose, quite full and nicely smooth on the palate, good depth of fruit and everything in balance, still a touch green at this stage, but a good future.

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Appealing, fresh strawberry and other red fruits on the nose, some density of fruit in mid-palate, but not quite enough to overcome present acidity, making it a little mean. Tannins are quite fine; finish is medium; correct but not exciting. Good winemaking but quality of fruit is not there.
