Les Caillerets
Manufacturer:
Michael Schuster
Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Fine, scented, oak-edged nose; finely balanced in a slightly austere mould. Firmly tannic texture framing lean, long term fruit – lesser 1er Cru scope in terms of quality. Good, light length. A decent, but not special 1er Cru Volnay.
Steven Spurrier
Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Dense red, young rim, lacking a little clarity, concentrated red fruits on the nose, a bit burly and oaky on the palate, good natural sweetness but lacks a little precision.
Sebastian Thomas
Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Sour, slightly stemmy hedgrerow fruit – distinctly Cabernet Franc! Sour blackcurrants on palate, some extraction, quite thick, smooth texture from cold maceration. Medium, fine and fruity finish.
