Tasting: Bierzo Mencia

Muted fruit notes dominated by the mineral and savoury impression. Works better on the palate, but a touch chalky and tough from the hard tannins, and is hard going.

Developed aromas in the nose, showing nice crianza and lovely meaty slightly sweaty original aromas. Balanced despite a great depth, complex and attractive, very particular. Lovely finish, not extremely open, but classy. A very nice top Bierzo, very modern.

Fine elegant cedar on the nose. Palate shows rich baked fruits, full bodied and weighty. The savoury undernote of cedar adds texture but freshness is lacking. Long, concentrated finish
