Tasting: Napa & Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

Smoky nose, leather, tobacco, quite evolved and leafy. Fairly rich, supple, moderately concentrated, but lacks some freshness and zest. The tannins are firm but there’s something rather tired about the wine and I see little future for it. Moderate length, drab finish.

Very ripe, possibly too high in alcohol. Tannins are very big and not integrated. The palate seems a bit unbalanced.

Slightly restrained but alluring nose. Touch of sour cherry in the mouth at first. Blackcurrants come later. All in its place and nicely balanced.
