Tim Johnston, Panel Judge Austria
Tim Johnston entered the wine trade in 1966 with Findlater, Mackie & Todd, then as a trainee with Hedges & Butler in Regent Street. He also spent eight months working as a slave at Château Cantenac Brown in Margaux and then spent a decade in Aix en Provence working for a British company exporting wine to the United States. In 1981, Johnston joined Mark Williamson to work at Willi’s, forming grapes with Williamson in 1984, before opening the Juveniles wine bar in Paris in 1987. In 1998 the partnership with Mark Williamson came to an end, leaving Johnston to concentrate on his wine bar, which specialises more and more on foreign wines, especially screwcapped wines, as well as the wines from Rhône and Provence.
