In 1833, Jacques Bollinger, who was travelling throughout Europe to introduce his wines, wrote to his partner Paul Renaudin of his intention to establish the firm in the United Kingdom.
He would have to wait over twenty-five years before finding his man. In 1858, Ludwig Mentzendorff, a German wine shipper recently arrived in London, wrote to his compatriot Jacques Bollinger.
